How to setup pedestrian opening?

The pedestrian configuration differs depending on the generation of motherboard integrated into your motor:

  • Merak BT A motherboard,
  • Other motherboards

Before starting, make sure that the gate is stopped in the closed position and your motor is powered.

1 / Configuration with a MERAK BT A motherboard

1. Check that the "pedestrian" entrance is used correctly

The control unit has two control inputs:

  • Terminal 60 : common orders
  • Terminal 62 = 2 ICs: Default Pedestrian Function

If you are using a wired button for pedestrian opening, connect a NO contact between 60 and 62.

2. Check the pedestrian entrance configuration in the LOGICS menu

Reminder: The entrance is already set to "pedestrian" by default, if any changes have been made previously, make sure that the 62 bollard is configured correctly.

  • Go to the LOGIC menu
  • Look for line 2 IC (corresponding to terminal 62)
  • Select the value 4 = PED (pedestrian opening)
3. Adjust the percentage of pedestrian opening

The partial opening determines the pedestrian opening as a percentage of the total gate travel.

  • Go to the settings menu .
  • Select partial opening "ped opening"
  • Choose a value between 10% and 100%, default the setting is 30%.

Note that the higher the value, the wider the gate will open

4. Add a remote control for the pedestrian function

If you want to trigger the pedestrian function from a remote control, you have 2 possibilities

4.1.1 Advanced Menu
  • Go to the RADIO menu
  • Choose "Add1ch" (add second channel key)




Press the desired button on the remote control

4.1.2 Shortcut

Press the button for 5 seconds – which allows us to access the programming menu and continue with the remote control programming procedure (see diagram above).

5. Test the function

Perform a simple test based on your configuration:

  • Press the wired button; the gate should open partially.
  • Press the dedicated radio button; the gate should open partially.

If the portal opens completely, check that:

  • The PED message is displayed on the screen. If not, make sure that in the
    • 2 CI = 4 (PED)
    • The assigned radio channel is configured in CH = 4 (PED)
  • If you see PED and no partial open, make sure that the "Partial open" setting is not at 100%.

2 / Configuration with a MERAK motherboard

1. Check that the "pedestrian" entrance is used correctly

The MERAK motherboard has two control inputs:

  • Terminal 60 : common orders
  • Terminal 62 = IC2: Default Pedestrian Function

If you are using a wired button for pedestrian opening, connect a NO contact between 60 and 62.

2. Configure the pedestrian entrance in the LOGICS menu

Reminder: The entrance is already set to "pedestrian" by default

  • Go to the LOGIC menu .
  • Look for line IC 2 (corresponding to terminal 62)
  • Select the value 4 = PED (pedestrian opening)
  • Adjust the percentage of pedestrian opening

The partial opening determines the pedestrian opening as a percentage of the total gate travel

  • Go to the settings menu
  • Select Partial Open.
  • Choose a value between 10% and 99%, default setting is 20%

Note that the higher the value, the wider the gate will open.

3.Add a remote control for the pedestrian function

If you want to trigger the pedestrian function from a remote control:

  • Go to the RADIO menu
  • Choose Add Start (add second channel key)
  • Press the desired button on the remote control



If no AUX 0 and AUX 3 outputs are configured as the 2nd radio channel, the 2nd channel automatically triggers the pedestrian opening.

By default the AUX 3 output is set to 0 (2nd radio channel), you have to change the programming and set it to greater than or equal to 1.

Test the pedestrian opening from your wired switch and/or remote control according to your site configuration.

3 / The HAMAL BT A control unit

1. Check that the "pedestrian" entrance is used correctly

The HAMAL motherboard has two control inputs:

  • Terminal 60 : common orders
  • Terminal 62 = IC2: Default Pedestrian Function

If you are using a wired button for pedestrian opening, connect a NO contact between 60 and 62.

2. Configure the pedestrian entrance via LOGICS DIP-switches

The IC2 input is already set to Pedestrian Mode (PED) in the factory setting.

As a reminder, the Configuration I/O table shows:

  • DIP 2 = OFF → IC2 = PED (piéton)
  • Make sure that DIP 2 is OFF to keep IC2 in pedestrian mode.

No further modifications are required for the pedestrian entrance.

3. Add a remote control for the pedestrian function

If you want to trigger the pedestrian function from a remote control:

  • Press the S2 button on the card for 1 second
  • Follow the sequence below of the diagram
