COOKIE POLICY

The site http://www.bft-automation.com (the “Site”) uses cookies to make consultation by users easier and more efficient [to obtain statistical information on the number of users and the way they use the Site][and to analyse users’ preferences expressed during browsing so as to send them advertising messages or supply services in line with their preferences].

In this document, BFT S.p.A., whose registered office is located at Via Lago di Vico 44, Schio (VI) (hereafter “Bft” or the “Company”) – as Site Owner and Data Controller – supplies information on the use of cookies by the Site, in accordance with Article 13 of EU Regulation 2016/679 (hereafter the “Regulation”).

WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small text files which the Site sends to users’ devices (computers, tablets and smartphones) and memorises (normally in a browser) so that they can be resent to the Site the next time those users access the Site from the same device. Cookies cannot retrieve any other data from users’ hard disks, acquire email addresses from them, or transmit computer viruses.

Some cookies are sent and controlled directly by the Site (known as first-party cookies). This document explains the purposes for which Bft installs these cookies and users’ rights in relation to them.

While users browse the Site, cookies controlled by third parties are also sent (known as third-party cookies): to obtain information on these cookies, we invite users to view the information on third-party cookies that may be obtained by clicking the links contained in this document.

Cookies may last only for a single browsing session in the browser (known as session cookies), in which case they will be automatically deactivated when the user closes the browser; alternatively, they may have a predetermined expiration, in which case they remain stored and active on the user’s hard disk until that expiration date, continuing to collect information during different browsing sessions on the browser or until the user manually deletes them (known as persistent cookies).

Cookies are used for a number of different functions. Some are necessary to permit browsing on the Site and to enable use of its functions (known as technical cookies). Others are used to obtain statistical information, in aggregate or non-aggregate form, on the number of users accessing the Site and on how the Site is used (known as monitoring or analytics cookies). Lastly, others are used to trace users’ profiles and display advertisements on the Site that may be of interest to them, in that they correspond to their tastes and consumption habits (known as profiling cookies).

We recommend that you continue reading this document to find out more about these different types of cookie and make an informed choice about whether or not to consent to their use.

WHAT KINDS OF COOKIE ARE USED ON OUR SITE?
The Site uses the following types of cookie:

1. TECHNICAL COOKIES?
The site uses technical cookies solely in order to make browsing possible and allow users to make use of its functions. They are first-party cookies, in that they are sent directly by Bft.

Some technical cookies are essential for offering an optimal browsing experience or allowing users to log in to the Site, for instance in order to make a purchase or access a restricted area (known as browsing cookies). Browsing cookies are normally session cookies, which means that they are automatically deactivated once you close the browser.

Some technical cookies are useful for allowing the user to memorise certain preferences (such as language or country of origin) without having to set them again during future visits (known as functional cookies). For this reason, functional cookies are often persistent cookies, in that they are stored on the user’s computer even after the browser is closed, until their expiration date or until the user decides to delete them.

Another category of technical cookie makes it possible to keep track of the user’s consent given when installing profiling cookies (first-party or third-party) or third-party analytics cookies used by the Site.

According to current privacy legislation, the installation of these cookies does not require users’ consent. Users can, however, prevent cookies from being installed or deactivate cookies already present on their browser by changing their browser settings, following the instructions provided below in the section entitled “How can users change the cookie settings on their browser?” Note that if you do not permit installation of technical cookies, or delete them after installation, it may be difficult or impossible for you to access the Site, to use some or all of it, to enable or disable some of its functions, or to receive certain services.

2. ANALYTICS COOKIE

Cookies of this type allow information to be collected on the number of users browsing the Site and their browsing habits [, in aggregate form (that is, without permitting identification of individual users) or in non-aggregate form]. This type of tool allows Bft to understand how visitors interact with Site content (pages visited, browsing time, geographic origin, etc.), supplying useful statistics that enable optimisation of the Site and enhance the user’s browsing experience. Information obtained using such cookies is used exclusively for the above-mentioned statistical purposes and not for profiling or marketing purposes.

2.1. FIRST-PARTY ANALYTICS COOKIES
Bft installs first-party analytics cookies. According to current privacy law, users’ consent is not required to send this type of first-party cookie. Users can, however, prevent cookies from being installed or disable cookies already present on their browser by changing their browser settings by following the instructions provided below in the section entitled “How can users change the cookie settings on their browser?”. Blocking or deactivating analytics cookies will not compromise the user’s ability to visit the Site and make use of its content.

There are currently no first-party analytics cookies in use on the Site.

2.2. THIRD-PARTY ANALYTICS COOKIES FOR WHICH CONSENT IS NOT REQUIRED

The Site [also] uses third-party analytics cookies which, under current privacy law, do not require users’ consent as Bft has (i) adopted appropriate tools for reducing what is known as the “identifying power” of these cookies (masking a significant portion of the user’s IP address); and (ii) signed specific agreements with third parties stating that they will use the information collected solely for the purpose of supplying Bft with statistical information on the use of the Site.

These cookies can also be deactivated or deleted by the user at any time by following the instructions provided in the section entitled “How can users change the cookie settings on their browser?”. Blocking or disabling analytics cookies will not compromise the user’s ability to visit the Site and make use of its content.

The following third-party analytics cookies are currently in use on the Site:

2.3.THIRD-PARTY ANALYTICS COOKIES FOR WHICH THE USER’S CONSENT IS REQUIRED
Bft uses third-party analytics cookies for which users’ consent is required, because the users’ IP addresses are not masked (or a significant portion is not masked) and third parties could therefore potentially identify users. Third parties could also use the information collected for purposes other than statistical analysis for Bft by cross-referencing it with other data in their possession.

For this reason, the first time a user accesses the Site, a brief notice (banner) will appear informing the user that (i) the Site uses third-party analytics cookies, and that (ii) by closing the banner, [scrolling the page] or clicking on any element in the page outside the banner and thereby continuing to browse the Site, the user consents to use of cookies by the Site. If the user expresses consent for installation of cookies in this way, Bft will keep track of this consent by means of a specific technical cookie. This means that the next time the user visits the Site (using the same device), the banner will no longer appear. This technical cookie can, however, also be removed from the browser by the methods explained below under “How can users change the cookie settings on their browser?”. In this case, the record of the user’s consent will be lost, and the banner will reappear the next time the user visits the Site.

Users are free to block installation of third-party analytics cookies or delete those which have already been installed at any time without compromising their ability to browse the Site and use its content in any way: (i) as described in the section entitled “How can users change the cookie settings on their browser?” or (ii) by viewing the third parties’ cookie notices by clicking the links appearing in the table below.

There are currently no third-party analytics cookies in use on the Site.

3. PROFILING COOKIES
Profiling cookies permit information to be collected on the preferences expressed by users while browsing in order to send advertising messages or offer services in line with their preferences. This ensures that the advertising messages displayed on sites and the services provided will be of greater interest to users.

The Site installs first-party and third-party profiling cookies in the following categories: Other categories.

Users’ consent is required for installation of cookies of this type (both first-party and third-party). For this reason, the first time a user accesses the Site, a brief notice (banner) will appear informing the user that (i) the Site uses third-party profiling cookies, and that (ii) by closing the banner, [scrolling the page] or clicking on any element in the page outside the banner and thereby continuing to browse the Site, the user consents to use of cookies by the Site. If the user expresses consent for installation of profiling cookies in this way, Bft will keep track of this consent by means of a specific technical cookie. This means that the next time the user visits the Site (provided the user uses the same device), the banner will no longer appear. This technical cookie can, however, also be removed from the browser by the methods explained below under “How can users change the cookie settings on their browser?”. In this case, the record of the user’s consent will be lost, and the banner will reappear the next time the user visits the Site.

The user is free to block installation of profiling cookies (whether first-party or third-party) or delete those which have already been installed at any time without compromising the possibility of browsing the Site and using its content in any way, by following the instructions provided in the section entitled “How can users change the cookie settings on their browser?”. Deactivating profiling cookies does not, however, mean that advertising will no longer appear on the Site; it simply means that the advertising banners displayed will no longer reflect the user’s interests or preferences. For information on how to consent to or refuse installation of first-party cookies, refer to the table below. Handling of information collected by third parties is, however, regulated by the corresponding notices, which users are asked to read. To ensure greater tranS.p.A.rency, the table on profiling cookies provides links to the corresponding sites, in order to allow users to make a choice in relation to the categories and parties from whom they wish to receive cookies of this type. Note that if you disable third-party cookies, you will prevent them from being used not only on the Site in question but on all internet sites on which cookies of this type are used. If third-party cookies are disabled, the user will still see the banner containing the cookie notice on the home page of the Site; but, when the user closes the banner, [scrolls the page] or clicks on any element outside the banner, the user will not receive any third-party cookies, provided they have been disabled correctly.

Bft is not responsible for any inaccuracies or changes that may be made to these documents by a third party.

There are currently no first-party profiling cookies in use on the Site.
